3 MOST MEMORABLE THINGS- NORTH AMERICA

CANADA

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada

1.Home
Canada is where our family is, where we grew up, where we fell in love with fishing and why it will always be remembered as our home.

2.Outdoor Activities
We think Canada has the greatest backyard in the entire world. From water skiing to snow skiing, hiking to biking and water for when it’s a bit hotter, it is an outdoor lover’s paradise! The majority of Canada is equipped with organized sports for both children and adults whether it be hockey, baseball, soccer or a lawn bowling club there is something for everyone of all ages!

3.Food
Most people wouldn’t think of Canada when it comes to food but after travelling all over the world we can assure you it is one of the best places for food lovers! Being a multi-cultural country you can get any type of cuisine you want; Thai, Indian, Greek, American, Italian, Mexican… the list goes on and on. Canada is our favourite place in the world!

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Arches National Park, Utah, USA

1.National Parks
The US of A. Our great neighbour to the south, has always offered many reasons to visit and the first being their National Parks. Visiting almost every state, we think the best parks are located in the far-west like Arches National Park, Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park.

2.Supersize

I don’t think it is a secret that food is bigger and badder in the States than anywhere else in the world, everything is supersized and you can find buffets on any major street.

3.Fishing
Last but definitely not least, the fishing access that the rivers offer is undeniably inviting, especially when its complimented with free camping and a supersized, 55-pack of beers.

MEXICO

1.Vacation Destination
Growing up in Canada, we always vacationed in the south on the beaches of Mexico. Cancun City is well known for its all-inclusive resorts for a reasonable price. The turquoise blue waters, warm weather and late night dance clubs make it the perfect spot to escape the harsh cold winters.

2.Drunk Drivers
Drinking and driving is very common in Mexico so if you plan on driving or riding your motorcycle across the country like Rob did, we recommend you get up early to get your driving done before the afternoon, before the drinking begins.

3.Ruins
Visiting the Mayan ruins in Mexico is a great way to learn about the culture and history Mexico has to offer. There are many archaeological sites you can visit including pyramid-shaped temples, tombs and palaces. Some temples overlook the ocean whereas others are buried deep in the jungle.

COSTA RICA

Costa Rica

1.Monkeys
There were capuchin monkeys hanging around in the trees near the beach, it was so cute the way they stole shiny objects from people’s bags and the food off their plates!

2. Day Trips
We organized a couple day trips to get out of the resort so we went fishing, horseback riding, hot springs spa day and snorkeling where we got to hold a puffer fish! One other day trip we had planned was a trip to the Eco- Park. This was a great way for us to experience more of the wildlife that we couldn’t see from horseback or the boat. Costa Rica has so many colourful birds it was hard not to stop and take pictures every time we saw one.

3.Surfing
The surfing was memorable for a couple reasons, the first being how hard it actually was. By the end of the day we were totally beat and stomachs red from surf rash. The sun began to set as were rinsing the salt water off from ours suits, now back at the beach-side bar we understood why surfing is a lifestyle.

CUBA

1.Night Club
We booked an all inclusive package which is different than how we normally travel. We hadn’t realized at the time that we booked with a hotel that turns a blind eye to prostitution; it made it an interesting place to stay! We went out with some of the girls from the hotel to a local bar where Rob had to trade shirts with a guy on the street because he wasn’t in ‘proper club wear’, it really made the trip!

2.Architecture
The architecture was colourful and colonial. The windows were accented with flower boxes and barred windows. Everyone was driving old American cars from the 1940’s and 1950’s, outdated and no maintained they use water to keep the radiators cool and duck tape to keep the leather seats together.

3.Cigars
Cuban cigars speak for themselves.
